GIESEN MARLBOROUGH CHARDONNAY 2008
TASTING NOTESThe colour is a medium straw yellow. The bouquet is a fruit driven style with aromas of tropical fruit, toasty notes and hints of butterscotch and ripe lemon.
The palate is richly textured, medium bodied with subtle oak and finely balanced acidity.
WINEMAKING NOTESThe 2008 Marlborough Chardonnay is sourced from three Giesen vineyards in the Wairau Valley. The majority (65%) of the wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain the fruit aromas and flavours of the grapes. The other 35% of the blend was fermented in mainly older oak barriques to contribute a ‘background’ oak character. Both tank and oak components were held on yeast lees and stirred periodically to enhance the structure and flavour profile and approximately 60% completed malo-lactic fermentation. After blending, the wine required no fining before bottling in December 2008.
Remove the screwcap and allow to breath before serving chilled. Partner with rice dishes, fresh fish and rich pasta dishes
