Tasting Notes
The Giesen 2010 Merlot is packed full of ripe blackberry and boysenberry aromas with hints of spice with a succulent palate with well rounded tannin.
Winemaking Notes
Harveseted in optimum condition in a vintage remebered for ideal weather. This Merlot is made to be full of fruit expression with a touch of oak.
The destemmed fruit was fermented in large stainless steel open top fermentors which were plunged three times per day with gentle pumpovers towards the end of ferment to maximise the fruit and natural tannin balance.
After pressing, the wine was matured for three months with French oak with a small amount of American oak. After blending, a light egg white fining prepred this wine for bottling.
